Slips Rolls Out AI-Powered P-to-P Prediction Markets

Slips, the developer of a peer-to-peer betting software with social gaming features, revealed that it is launching artificial intelligence (AI)-powered prediction markets.

The Los Angeles-based business said that its new AI-powered prediction markets are extensions of existing games, Pools (split the pot) and Heads Up (winner gets all).  Since the company's founding, more than 150,000 "Slippers" nationwide have earned a total of more than $6 million.

"Fueled by integrations with advanced large language models, these systems can now automatically generate new bets around trending topics, events, and storylines, audit and resolve outcomes in real time to ensure fairness and transparency, (and) scale prediction categories from sports and entertainment to politics, finance, and global events,” according to a press release.

Slips provides derivatives on economic data releases, financial markets, politics, pop culture, and sports, just as bigger prediction market operators.

“The company also announced that these markets will soon extend into futures, commodities, and politics, all powered by AI tools that automatically track, generate, and settle bets,” Slips added in the statement.

Artificial Intelligence May Help Prediction Markets

Given that certain event contracts are susceptible to ambiguity and manipulation, the nexus between AI and prediction markets may offer a viable marriage.

For instance, the biggest business in the sector, Polymaket, was recently the target of derision and accusations of manipulation when it came to a yes/no contract about whether Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky would be seen in public with a suit.  He was seen wearing formal attire during a NATO conference in June, which sparked controversy. The contract wasn't quickly settled in favor of "yes" bettors.  AI might lessen these circumstances.

The AI/Prediction Market Combination Is Growing

The combination of AI and prediction markets is starting to gain traction.  Beyond Slips' direct integration of AI into its peer-to-peer games, Kalshi and Elon Musk's xAI announced in June that Grok, a chatbot utilized on Musk's X social media platform, would enter the yes/no derivatives market.

Investors are paying attention.  According to PitchBook, Slips has investors including Sunset Bay Capital, Trousdale Ventures, and Watertower Ventures.  One of Slips' financial backers is Jason Mercier, a six-time World Series of Poker champion.
