Recently, a gambler at the Blue Chip Casino Hotel Spa in Indiana was apprehended after officials discovered his bag on the casino floor. It was packed with suspected methamphetamine (meth). 

Malcolm Smith, II, 39, from Greencastle, Ind., faced multiple charges on Tuesday. 

Smith was observed using a slot machine. According to authorities, he was sitting in a chair with a black bag placed on his lap. 

After he got up from the chair, he set the bag down on the floor of the Michigan City gaming venue, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission Police. 

Casino security guards were notified about the abandoned suspicious bag 45 minutes after the man left the slot machine. Upon opening it, the guards found nearly 30 grams of suspected drugs, as reported by Hometown News Now, a local news source. Officials later stated it was meth. Authorities reported that the black bag also contained empty plastic bags. 

The local authorities were notified. They discovered Smith at the casino. 

He was detained and processed. If found guilty of a drug offense, he might receive a prison term. His case was handed over to local prosecutors. 

Authorities did not disclose a street value for the narcotics. 

The casino can be found close to Lake Michigan. 

Nearly $30K Confiscated in Gambling Operation Bust 

Authorities confiscated $29,851 in Ohio during a recent raid on an alleged illegal gambling operation. 

The Richland Source, a community news source, stated that the raid occurred at an unlawful casino found in a shopping center in Bucyrus, Ohio, on Wednesday. 

Local law enforcement and representatives from the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) conducted a raid on the operation. Besides the money, authorities reported that items associated with gambling were seized as well. 

Prior to the raid, local authorities received a search warrant from a judge after presenting proof of alleged illegal gambling activities. 

The Source identified the establishment as Golden Genie Gaming. The company is situated at 1655 Marion Road in Bucyrus. That is a section of the Southern Lights Shopping Center.

"The search warrant was the culmination of an investigation conducted by OCCC and Bucyrus police detectives into an illegal casino,” Bucyrus Police Chief Neil Assenheimer said in a statement.

“No arrests were made, however cases against any involved individuals may be presented to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of charges,” Assenheimer added.

The Bucyrus Fire Department also had members present during the operation. 

Bucyrus is approximately 66 miles to the southeast of Toledo, Ohio.
